An 88.40-acre land project in Newbury has just been finalized by the Ausbon Sargent Land Preservation Trust. In 2020, the land trust purchase the "Between the Mountains" property (the 13th property owned by Ausbon Sargent), with assistance from many private donors and an ARM grant. Since then, Ausbon Sargent has worked with the Town of Newbury to put a conservation easement on the property; a requirement for receiving the ARM grant funding. On February 11, 2022, the deed for the property, including the conservation easement, was recorded, marking the project complete. Read more
Ausbon Sargent is pleased to report that it conveyed the 5.56-acre Stamper property, adjacent to the recently-conserved Sawyer Brook Headwaters property, to the Town of Grantham on January 14, 2022. Once the property was purchased by Ausbon Sargent in July of 2021, the land trust worked to put a conservation easement on it. The purchase of this property, the protection of it by conservation easement, and the conveyance of it to the Town of Grantham, was the goal. Now that the goal has been met, this property will be managed by the Town, alongside the Sawyer Brook Headwaters property.Read more
On April 14, 2021, The Ausbon Sargent Land Preservation Trust placed a conservation easement on a 16.18-acre property along Davis Hill Road and Route 11 in New London. The property is adjacent to the already-protected Gordon Easement, and is forested with good forestry soils. A stream that runs through the property, as well as associated wetlands, contribute to the health of both Otter Pond and Lake Sunapee.

On April 15, 2021, The Ausbon Sargent Land Preservation Trust purchased a 9.4-acre land parcel which abuts the recently-purchased Messer Farm property in New London. This additional acreage will provide a perfect trail-head location, off-street parking, and access to the Messer Forest area for trail maintenance/creation and eventual forest maintenance.Read more
The 28-acre Two Brook Woods property was gifted to Ausbon Sargent on March 26, 2021. This parcel of land is visible when driving along Pleasant Street in New London, and was purchased by the donors with the intent to conserve it with the land trust. The protection of this property is important; not only are the open fields, stone walls, forest and scenic views treasures, but both the White and Red Brooks run through the property, which lead into pristine Pleasant Lake.Read more
