Newport Road, New London

In 2002, the Stanley Point Trust granted a conservation easement on two parcels of land in New London. One lot includes 8.6 acres with 520 feet of frontage along Newport Road and 2,260 feet of shore frontage on Little Lake Sunapee. The other lot of 2.56 acres is across the street with 707 feet of frontage along Newport Road. Both parcels are forested and contiguous to other Ausbon Sargent easement properties. This easement is key in continuing the protection of the Little Lake Sunapee shoreline and watershed, preserving both its beauty and its water quality. The protection of the Stanley Point Trust lake parcel, along with the other contiguous Ausbon Sargent conserved land, results in ¾ of a mile of the shoreline of Little Lake Sunapee remaining in its natural state.

The property will remain forever forested. Ownership has remained in the same family, but was transferred to the Stanley Farm Association, Inc. in January of 2013.

The Town of New London Conservation Commission holds an executory interest in the conservation easement.
