Dr. John and Amy Blitzer donated a conservation easement on their 136-acre tree farm, insuring that it will remain a working forest forever. "We really love that piece of land," Amy Blitzer said. "We wanted to protect it."
Since 1990 the Blitzers have been managing the property as a tree farm, a portion of which is dedicated to Christmas trees. The parcel with 1,550 of frontage on Rowe Mountain Road is accessible to the public. The Blitzers have built a trail network they plan to link to a Town trail on Rowe Mountain, and someday, they hope to connect to nearby Lowe State Forest. "We hope to leave wild land for recreation and wildlife," Amy Blitzer said.
John Blitzer died June 3, 2004 and Amy passed away on October 29, 2016.
