Butterflies Count!

Monday, March 20, 2023 - 7:00pm to 8:30pm

Monarchs may be easy to identify, but what are all those other NH butterflies? What's the difference between a moth and a butterfly? Why does your garden get fewer butterfly visits than your neighbor's yard?

Join us at the LSPA building at 63 Main Street, in Sunapee Harbor, to learn about which butterflies live and visit here, how your garden can attract more butterflies, and how volunteers are supporting a statewide butterfly initiative to track how these beauties are changing as our climate changes.

Heidi Holman, NH Fish and Game Wildlife Biologist, and Amy Highstrom, local butterfly expert, will discuss the inaugural 2022 NH butterfly count results, planting a garden to support local butterflies, and the goals of the statewide study of current butterfly populations. Heidi is the leader of the NH butterfly project and Amy is our local educator who trains and mentors volunteers. Ausbon Sargent’s conservation properties serve as sites for the state-sponsored study.

Refreshments will be served.
