Ausbon Sargent just closed on this 5.56-acre property, adjacent to the recently-conserved Sawyer Brook Headwaters property, in Grantham NH. This property, which has frontage on the Class 6 section of Dunbar Hill Road, will allow for safe access to those wishing to explore the Sawyer Brook Property. The Stamper Property is mostly forested, and has several significant vernal pools, which provide breeding grounds for many amphibians.
The total cost of the project, including fees for title and insurance, stewardship, hazardous waste assessment and legal review, is $75,000. To date, we have $40,000 in hand, have received a grant from the Eastman Charitable Foundation, and some generous donations from Grantham residents and friends. We still need to raise about $6,000 more to meet our fundraising goals. Ausbon Sargent will place work to place a conservation easement on the land and will then gift it to the Town of Grantham to be managed together with the Sawyer Brook Headwaters property.
